He served his apprenticeship as a carpenter and is an expert worker in wood. Following his first visit to a magic convention at Blackpool, Len built the Crystal Cabinet Illusion. This stunning illusion consists of a large perpex cabinet sitting on a thin base. The cabinet is totally transparent and yet after being momentarly covered with a large cloth, a lovely female assistant appears inside! Len performed the illusion to great acclaim as the opening item at the Circle's 50th Anniversary Gala Show in 2000. He also performed it during a television recording made by a local T.V. Company.
Lens other interests include golf. He is a member of the Gleneagles Golf Club and played off a scratch handicap for many years. An animal lover, he can often be seen walking his two dogs around the South Inch and in 2007 he took up playing bowls.
